Eucalyptus saligna, commonly known as Sydney Blue Gum, is a tall, fast-growing evergreen tree native to the coastal forests of eastern Australia. This impressive species features a straight trunk with smooth pale grey to bluish bark that sheds in long strips, often revealing patches of rough, dark bark at the base. Its glossy, lance-shaped leaves form a dense canopy, providing excellent shade and a strong vertical presence in the landscape. Clusters of small, white flowers bloom in summer, attracting bees and other pollinators, followed by woody fruit capsules. Valued for both its timber and ornamental qualities, Sydney Blue Gum is ideal for large-scale plantings, windbreaks, and native revegetation projects, particularly in moist, well-drained soils.
