Eucalyptus globulus

Southern Blue Gum

Eucalyptus globulus, commonly known as Southern Blue Gum, is a majestic evergreen tree native to southeastern Australia. It is known for its tall, upright form and smooth bark that may shed in strips to reveal shades of cream, grey, or green. Juvenile leaves are waxy and bluish-white beneath, while mature leaves develop into long, glossy, lance-shaped foliage. The tree produces clusters of glaucous, ribbed flower buds—typically arranged singly or in groups of three to seven—which open into delicate white blooms. These are followed by woody, capsule-like fruit. Valued both for its ornamental appeal and its aromatic foliage, Southern Blue Gum is a striking addition to large landscapes and revegetation projects.
