Strelitzia reginae, commonly known as Bird of paradise, is a striking tropical plant admired for its bold foliage and distinctive architectural form. Native to South Africa, this species is widely cultivated in bright indoor environments and sheltered landscapes for its dramatic leaves and iconic flowers. The plant produces large, paddle-shaped leaves in rich green tones that emerge from upright stems, forming a structured, fan-like canopy. In favourable conditions, mature plants may produce their characteristic bird-like flowers with vivid orange and blue tones, adding an additional sculptural element to the plant’s form. Indoors, Strelitzia reginae typically grows to around 1–2 metres in height, making it well suited to spacious interiors, floor planters, and statement planting arrangements. With its strong vertical presence and tropical character, the Bird of Paradise introduces height, texture, and a bold natural focal point to contemporary interior planting schemes.
