Pachycereus schottii, commonly known as the Senita Cactus, is a distinctive columnar cactus valued for its tall, ribbed structure and fine-textured surface growth. Native to the Sonoran Desert of Mexico and the southwestern United States, this species is widely used in arid landscape and xeriscape design for its sculptural form and strong architectural presence. The plant develops upright cylindrical stems with subtle vertical ridges, often covered in fine grey spines and hair-like filaments that soften its otherwise geometric silhouette. In maturity, it may produce small pink flowers near the upper stems, adding seasonal detail against its muted green-grey tones. Pachycereus schottii typically grows to around 3–10 metres in height, depending on growing conditions and age. With its vertical emphasis and refined desert character, the Senita Cactus introduces structure, texture, and a strong sculptural identity to contemporary landscape and architectural planting schemes.
